this week...
Right now I've got one piece that I feel could be close to being finished (on screen). I'm liking how it's looking but I can't figure out what else it needs. I've also started working on another piece but I keep changing it a lot. I'm not exactly sure where I want to go with it yet! I was thinking about using some text, and possibly some other media in addition to the thread. Here is the first one (I'm feeling like it's looking really flat, any suggestions?)

I give that background texture a 34 out of 27! Love it. As far as flatness goes, I don't think it's too bad, but think about your light source. The tree definitely has a source coming from the left. Think about how it would cast its shadow on the grass. Also, you can see the background through some of the blades of grass, which takes away from the depth of it. I think the grass already has good highlights, etc. but if you're not happy with its current look, try to find an image of a similar landscape, and see how the light plays off the grass. How would you integrate text if you went that route?
ReplyDeleteThanks! I actually started trying to add a shadow for the tree a couple days ago but I still have a lot of work to do on it. I agree with what you said about the grass, I'm going to try to work more with that as well. and as far as the text goes I wouldn't be using it in this piece but possible another one I'm working on.
